Beginning of October

Rett does a weekly writing assignment that goes along with their book for the week. I love walking by in the hallway and seeing what he has come up with. He cracks me up!

Since getting the baby blood python at the reptile show, Anthony could not stop talking about how much he loves blood pythons and what a good idea he thinks it is to breed them. Somehow that snowballed into spending $5000 on two snakes that he wants to get to breed!!

This is the male and the most expensive snake. His pattern is called "pixel" and he is so pretty! It turns out he is too little to breed this season, but hopefully he will be big enough this summer.

This is the female Anthony bought. She is soooo big! And not really a fan of people yet...

Rett made a cute hat in class:

The cub scouts had a Halloween weekend at a scout camp complete with hay rides, BB guns, archery, pumpkin carving, and costumes. We went for the day instead of camping because I. hate. camping.

A funny skit put on by one of the leaders:

Rett wore a storm trooper costume. Another little boy was dressed like a storm trooper and when they saw each other, they ran over and started hugging. It was so freakin' adorable!

Archery:

The pumpkins the boys carved:

The boys got to go on the hamster wheel and make their own snow cones!

Anthony decided to build new cages for all of the snakes now that we have 5 of them! This is the before of the "snake corner"

This is after! It looks like a pet store!

All of our Halloween costumes came in the mail so we had to try them on and see how they looked. They looked ridiculous!

The second grade was reading Stellaluna (a story about a bat that falls into a birds nest and tries to figure out how to be a bird) so the second grade teachers decided to turn their rooms/hallway into bat caves! It was amazing! I stayed after school for about 5 hours to help them put it up, but they stayed even longer after that making it perfect. The kids absolutely loved it. It was hard as adults to have to "crawl through the cave" every time we needed to go in and out of the classroom but we survived it. Anything for the kids!

I don't even remember where this was, a movie theater maybe? Always a crazy face.

Gordon, the axolotl, looking not amused:

The boys were invited to a friend's birthday party where they got to finger paint miniature horses and get pony rides. They loved it!

James had his Halloween pack meeting at cub scouts and it was hilarious to watch him go up and get his award in his costume. Definitely the highlight of the meeting!

Rett went as a cactus.
