August 2021

 Rett got his purple belt!

Rett went with me and my mom to the outlets and we got sorted/our fortune told at a toy store.

Checking out the wishing fountain at the outlets:

It was time for me to go back to work for the week of teacher preplanning before school started. Our theme this year was construction since we are in the middle of building a new large high school on the lot next to the school. There are two more ESE teachers on our team this year and a lot more paraprofessionals, so our little group is definitely growing!

Our friend rescued a teeny tiny kitten that was THROWN out of the car next to her in a busy intersection! He chewed up and swallowed part of a nipple from a bottle of kitten formula she tried to feed him and then he wouldn't poop, so she asked veterinarian Anthony for help. He has had lots of experience giving enemas to one of our cats that swallowed a nerf bullet, so we helped this little guy out. We had to do it a few times over a few days, but he made a full recovery!

James's last swim meet for the season:

His last practice they took pictures and played some team games. Usually Rett would swim in the pool during practice and he didn't want to get out, even when it rained like crazy!

The summer team:

The boys were invited to their first birthday party at the local ice skating rink and they discovered that they love ice skating! They begged to join the ice skating lessons group that was starting in a few weeks.

I bought a treadmill! I've been wanting one for a long time, and I finally couldn't stand how hot it was outside for running. It is such a waste to get up early to run to beat the heat during the summer when otherwise I can be sleeping in! The boys are big fans of the treadmill too.

Some slip and slide and water balloon fun:

Playing with the turkey chick:

James's new science teacher has large aquariums in her classroom and has a pet hermit crab who is ginormous! I've never seen a hermit crab so big. She has to special order his shells online because she can't find native ones that are big enough for him.

The boys started ice skating lessons. The first lesson is how to fall correctly so that you don't break anything!

First day of school!

I made a collage of their first days of school. Love these handsome boys!

Before school blessings:

James found a baby gecko in the house:

Going out for ice cream:

More ice skating:

Rett wasn't feeling good, so he stayed on the sidelines with us.

We took our annual trip to the reptile show and the boys begged us to get an axolotl. They agreed to work together to feed him every day and take care of him. They immediately decided on the name Gordon.

Anthony couldn't resist getting another pet of his own: a baby albino blood python.

Back at the skating rink:

There is a bowling alley and arcade next to the skating rink, so we met some friends there after skate practice. As I was changing into bowling shoes, I realized that I left the house wearing two different flip flops!

Beach day with friends!
