Beginning of March

I was cleaning off our front porch and looked up to see Baymax calmly laying down while the turkeys wandered around him. I took a picture because I'm so dang proud of him and how good he is doing with the animals! He stays outside in the yard with them all night now and he always alerts when there is something around that shouldn't be. One morning I forgot our pest control guy was coming to spray and he texted me after he left and said that he was going to try to park outside and come inside the gate but that he was afraid of the "bear dog" barking at him. I wasn't even sorry, Baymax was doing his job!

The boys cut up some boxes and turned them into armor for a game they were playing. I thought the word placement from the box was hilarious!
More basketball!

The school had their annual science night and the first thing the boys wanted to do was get a snow cone from this crazy contraption! You run on the wheel to power the ice maker for the snow cone and then you move the snow cone along with different pulleys and levers to make it yourself. It was so fun!

Showing me his snow cone tongue:

This was the leaf blower powered "hover chair". It worked the best with the really small, lighter students, but they still liked trying it.

Making their hair stand up from static electricity:

Rett's curls held his hair down pretty well, but he did get one or two to stand up:

This was a set of headphones designed to confuse you since the tubes make you hear the person on your left speak into your right ear and vice versa.

Anthony giving it a try:

I had to substitute for the 5th grade science teacher, whose room is filled with different aquariums and sea creatures. The one by her desk has an octopus named Inky who is sooooo cool!

I sent a text to myself with a link I wanted to remember and noticed that my name when I texted myself was "Poop in the Picture". I had no idea why it said that! So I asked my brother how to figure out where that name came from and he suggested I ask Siri what my name is.

This was the response from Siri:
Somehow in my contact information under nickname was "Poop in the Picture". I have no idea how it got there and no one is admitting to doing it! I was able to delete it but I have no idea if that has been coming up as my name when texting other people. Hopefully not!

One of our turkey mommas hatching more babies:

James at his last basketball game for the season! He was ready for the season to be over, he was tired of the long practices and evening games. I'm sure he will want to do it all again next year though!

A coworker took this picture of Chucke Cheese waiting in the front office. I guess he forgot to bring his ID and was having a hard time checking in. Even cartoon characters have to get their background check before they can come inside the school! lol!

February

Anthony and I both noticed this bucket on the side of the road while we were driving somewhere and after a few minutes of silence I said, "Did you see that bucket?" Anthony immediately said, "Yeah! It looked like a good one. Wanna go back for it?" So we turned around and picked it up. Treasure!

James and his school basketball team. He loves playing basketball, hates wearing basketball shoes. Story of his life!

The baby snake is growing!

James was cracking me up during this basketball game. The boy he was assigned to cover is much taller than him, so when James would put his arms out to the side to try to block him, the boy would just put his hands straight up in the air. James didn't really notice that he wasn't blocking him at all :)

James gets super focused when he gets the ball. He wants to do everything right and doesn't want to make a wrong move, so sometimes he has the ball for a long time, just thinking and thinking what to do with it. When he makes a basket we always goes crazy, but he barely makes a different face and plays it all cool.

It was a chilly night but we wanted ice cream, so we went to an ice cream place on beachside that has fire pits. Best of both worlds!

James decided to dig a big hole and see if he could hit water. I don't know how he got this deep without getting stuck!

We have one juvenile turkey that hatched with a twisted leg that has definitely imprinted on humans. He comes right up to you when we go out there while all the other young turkeys run away! James named him Lucky and likes to pick him up and carry him around. Because of his twisted leg, he walks around in circles a lot so I don't think he minds being carried.

Sleepy boy:

Walk-a-thon day at school:

Vegan caterers called The Vegetable Butchers came to the school to do a presentation on yummy ways to cook vegetables or substitute veggies for other things. It was really interesting and Rett loved their no-meat barbeque sandwiches.

Anthony was able to be off on President's Day since he was on-call the weekend before so we all had a day at home together. We decided to check out a trail by the river we hadn't tried before.

After just a few minutes of walking, Rett spotted this baby gopher tortoise on the trail. He was so excited to have spotted it first! He spent the rest of the walk looking for something else to find before everyone else did.

A bald eagle! Every single time we go to the Canaveral Seashore we see bald eagles. So awesome!

The boys fell asleep in our bed and were so stinkin' cute snuggling together. I love it when they aren't fighting!

More from our trip to Canaveral Seashore. This big guy was at the visitor center:

Later in the day we decided to try crabbing. We were not successful, the crabs were too smart for us!

Since we didn't catch any crabs, we decided to go buy some crabs from a local seafood supply. On the way home we checked out a small citrus farm we drive by all the time, but have never gone to. The owner gave us an awesome tour of their tiny operation and let the boys pick some oranges from the trees.

After years and years of thinking I could never be a runner, I decided to give it a try. It was the only exercise that I thought I could fit into my schedule since I don't have to go to the gym or get childcare to do it (I usually go around our neighborhood after Anthony gets home).  I started before Christmas, and now I run all the time. I even ran a 5K and beat my 5K time from when I was 24 and working out all the time!! It has really helped me destress and have some alone time to listen to my music or my podcasts.

Since Anthony is the high councilman over primary, he sometimes has to go to Deland to attend their presidency meetings. They had one on a Saturday morning and he was disappointed that he would miss the morning with us, so we tagged along! I read a book while the boys played, and at one point I glanced over and noticed that Rett had church shoes on. He said he put them on when I told him we were going to a church building (although he didn't put on church clothing, so I guess he wasn't worried all of him being dressed up).

James's shoes had so many holes in them, it was finally time to force him to get a new pair. I've been buying the exact same shoes for him on ebay or wherever I can find them, but after 3 years I finally hit a wall and couldn't find them anywhere. He is so difficult to find shoes for, we decided to go to the nearest Crocs store and let him try on every single different version of crocs that they have. He usually wants some kind of crocs, but most shoe stores only have one or two to choose from and he never likes them. There was a Crocs Outlet in Daytona, so we spent a solid 45 minutes trying on shoes and finally left with two pairs! A miracle!

The outlets have a tiny toy store so we had to check that out too. They had a fortune teller sorting hat, so each boy got their fortune told. They were mesmerized.

Rett is still loving karate! This is a video of one of his favorite drills called "crazy horse". It is supposed to teach them how to grab and hang on to someone while sparring.

Rett earned his first yellow stripe! Here he is with all of his Senseis. Good job Rett!
