January

The library started a preschool age story time that is geared towards older kids and Rett loves it! They read stories and do matching/rhymes and then they do an activity. This day it was building a creation out of legos!

Holding Baymax, the big baby. He is still such a puppy in his mind, but he is already almost 30 pounds!

We decided to sign up Rett for basketball to see how he likes it. I don't think he had ever even held a basketball before his first practice, so it was a bit of a learning curve :) He hasn't quite gotten the hang of dribbling yet, so there is a lot of chasing the ball and jumping on it so it doesn't roll away...

James likes to jump and "help" during the practices. After the first few he wasn't allowed to "help" anymore because he was fighting too much with Rett. So typical (and frustrating!)

Getting bigger by the day!

For Christmas we all got Monster Jam tickets and it was finally the weekend of the event! We got the preshow passes as well so we could go up close and see all the trucks and meet the drivers.

Gatorland was there with a little booth to giveaway tickets and they were letting the kids hold an alligator. I knew James would be fine with it, but I was a little worried that Rett would just drop him once they said it was time to give him back. Thankfully, he did great!

Gravedigger! Rett is holding up his toy gravedigger to show that it is the same monster truck!

There was a big dirt patch that all the kids were using for their toy monster trucks. We spent a lot of time sitting here and watching the boys get crazy dirty.

Time for the show!

We got noise cancelling headphones for all of us, and they worked great. Rett was really happy to not have to cover his ears the entire time.

James' school had their 100th day of school celebration and they were assigned to wear a tshirt with 100 things on them. James picked out these stick on jewels at the dollar store as his 100 things, so I spruced it up a bit. I ironed on a picture of the sun, the phrase "100 days brighter!" and stuck on all the jewels as rays from the sun. Everyone in his class loved it!

Rett is really coming along with his letter sounds and blending them to read words. He read this entire story from our pre-k reader!

The shrimping team went out for their first night of the season. They didn't do too bad! There weren't a lot of shrimp, but the ones they did get were big! The shrimping reports haven't been very good this year, so we don't know if there were be many more trips in the next few months. Which is a shame because these shrimp are sooooo delicious.
