End of November

These two are the funniest pair. The cat (flamingo) just loves Baymax and they cuddle together all the time. She was rubbing up to him through his kennel like she wanted me to let him out so he could play with her.

James was in time out in his room for misbehaving at school and talking back to me and to his teachers (fun times). When he came out, he had written this note to me. It says, "I will be nice and kind, now please forgive me!!! You accept?" and then he wrote a yes or no on the bottom. I circled yes and handed it back to him. It has been a bit of a rough school year so far.

James had one of his favorite specials: agriculture science! They were in the garden pulling weeds and hunting caterpillars and James was loving it.

James's cub scout pack had their Thanksgiving pack meeting that included a turkey dinner. James got lucky and got a turkey leg. Yum!

I took the test I had been studying so much for and passed! Now I have a temporary teaching certificate to teach special education! I was so nervous for the test and worried that all the questions would be on things I didn't study, but it was such a relief to find out right away that I passed. I have three years from the date of the test to get any additional teaching classes that I need for a permanent teaching certificate. I haven't decided if I want to yet, but it is good to have the option.

The boys went adventuring with Anthony and his parents and got to play on some construction equipment:

The boys and I had an entire week off of school/work for Thanksgiving vacation and our plan was to kick it off with a 3 day trip to Universal. My mom came with us and the day before we left, Rett came down with a really bad flu/virus that had been going around the school. He was so sick and pitiful that we decided to leave him home with Anthony and my brother.

The morning before we left for Orlando, I took James to try out a disc golf course near our house. He has started taking disc golf classes once a week after school and is loving it!

After we left for Orlando, I started getting texts from Anthony filled with pictures of turkey nests that he discovered around the yard! We didn't think our turkeys were old enough to lay eggs, but Anthony saw one coming out of some bushes and decided to investigate. He discovered a big nest!

After looking around the yard, he found a second nest that had chicken eggs in it too:

This turkey decided to be predictable and just make her nest where all the chickens lay their eggs. That made a total of three turkey nests!

Here she is on the nest in the bushes:

This is the view from farther back, it is really hard to see her under there!

This is the daddy, our dominant boy turkey:

Poor Rett was so sick and miserable. He had a high fever and no energy or appetite for an entire week!

I was worried that James was going to get sick too, he had a small fever but otherwise seemed fine. We decided to spend a day hanging out at the hotel and in downtown Universal just to make sure that he was rested up and feeling fine to go to the park the next day.

We played mini golf and went to see frozen 2.

The next morning we got up early so that we could get our early admission to the park and while we were getting dressed, James vomited all over the bed. He had a much higher fever and was definitely sick. Universal was not to be!

So we checked out of the hotel two days early, saved our tickets for another day and came home. By 10am we were back home and I set up sick beds in the living room for the boys so that they could lay down and watch TV together. James ended up getting sicker than Rett! He was sick the entire week school was out, and then missed almost a whole other week of school after that. We ended up taking him to the doctor to make sure he didn't have pneumonia and got him a few prescriptions to help him kick the sickness. Rett was better, so he and I went back to school and Anthony's parents came and stayed with James. They were life savers!

While family was in town for Thanksgiving, I got to sneak away and have lunch with Anthony at his new job. This is him at his desk in his office on the 4th floor. He has such a beautiful view of the river! He is really enjoying his new job, he is still busy but there is so much less stress.

The day after Thanksgiving we went to a local Christmas tree farm to buy our very first live Christmas tree! It was such a fun experience, I think we are going to make it a tradition!

I don't know how I got so behind on your blog! A real Christmas tree sounds fun! Ant looks great in his new awesome office! That stinks about the sickness, but I feel your pain, my boys were super sick over Christmas break, poor Nolan threw up Christmas morning and he and Dallin spent the whole Christmas day in bed! Ugh! That's awesome that you could just save your tickets for the park for another day though! Awesome about your neighbors letting your ponies use their property!
