Halloween

Our family was put in charge of our ward's trunk and treat this year and it was so much work! We wanted to do a petting zoo with our animals and the planning involved with moving everyone to the church was crazy. I planned our costumes to be hunters and deer (Rett was going to be a deer with me) but he changed his mind and wanted to be a hunter at the last minute. I figured since we already had all the camo and hunting gear it would be easy.

Rett came with me to the church to start setting up, while Anthony, James and Diana (Trigger's owner) transported Trigger in our minivan. I couldn't believe they got him in there!

All of us at the end of the night:

Trigger gave pony rides and was a big hit!

We bought a lot of pumpkins for decorations at the trunk and treat, so afterwards we got to take them home and carve a few.

James was very proud that he both designed and carved his all by himself this year (instead of letting me do the knife parts).

After only 2 days they started to get mushy so we fed them to the big tortoises. They loved it!

James's class did a few pumpkin experiments at school, so he got to scoop out his own pumpkin again.

Then they got to sample different pumpkin treats and vote on which ones they thought were the best.

On Halloween day it was time for the annual storybook parade! Rett had been dying to be a hot dog for months, so I found a book to go with his costume. He was the cutest thing ever!!

James wore his Ravenclaw robes and was a Hogwarts student:

The office staff always has a theme every year and this year the theme was Star Wars. I decided to be C3P0 and made my robot shell out of spray painted dollar store armor. I didn't know that one of the other teachers was also C3P0, so we were twins!

Kingergarten and 1st grade teachers were Snow White and the 7 Dwarves:

All of the office staff (the principal is the storm trooper):

The middle school teachers were Charlie Brown characters:

When it came time for trick or treating, we made a stop at our old landlord's house to visit him. We chatted for a long time and they gave the boys candy and money! It is so nice to keep in touch with good people.
