We were so busy this year around Easter time, that we only went to one egg hunt. I had mixed feelings about that. One the one hand, I hate how crazy competitive some of the egg hunts can be, but on the other hand it felt like we didn't really get into the mood for celebrating. The one we did go to had fire trucks and police cars for the kids to tour. James and Rett loved getting in the back seat of the police car!
They also had a bouncy house, but the boys only played in it for a few minutes. It was all about the eggs!
There were two separate areas for the different age groups so my mom and I went with Rett and Anthony went with James. Rett was so excited!!
The church that hosted the event had the greatest idea. All of the eggs were empty and at the end of the egg hunt, everyone turned their eggs in for a treat bag. So it didn't really matter if some kids got a lot of some didn't get any, everyone ended up with the same thing. Plus, the church got to recycle all of their eggs. I definitely need to remember that idea if we ever do another ward egg hunt.
Checking out the goody bag:
James found this "million dollar bill" that at first he thought was a golden ticket or something but it was just a religious promotional thing.
The night before Easter we let James stay up with the grown-ups and watch animal airport (a reality show that follows what customs people do with animals on planes). He was so sweet, snuggling up to grandma. Both of the boys fight over who gets to sleep with grandma or snuggle her in the morning when they wake up.
Easter basket time!
Since it was conference weekend, we didn't have to get ready to go to church so the boys took the opportunity to go outside and play in the mud (that they created with the hose)
In the afternoon I put out some eggs in the yard for the boys to have their own egg hunt. Since the goats were out, I warned them that they better find the eggs before the goats do!

Sounds like a lot of Easter fun! We didn't even do our own egg hunt this year, I convinced the kids that the neighborhood one was enough for them, but I keep feeling a little guilty about it...! And I miss all of the churches that do pumpkin patches and Easter egg hunts that you can find in other states, that's harder to find around here....
