James's 9th Birthday

James's birthday this year fell on a Saturday, so it was his real birthday and the day of his friend party. That made the day extra special! In the morning he got up and snuggled with us for a little bit. I told him that I should get extra attention on his birthday since I did all the work on his actual birthday :) I convinced him to make me some eggs and bring them to me in bed. Love this sweet boy!

His first present was a download of Minecraft for the Xbox. He has been loving playing minecraft recently on the ipad, but he has been begging to get it for the Xbox so that it is easier to play.

I reserved a pavilion at the park for his Beyblade themed birthday party and got invitations printed at Walgreens for him to hand out to all of his class. Walgreens was having a printing deal that made it cheaper to buy 75 photos than just a few, so he had a lot of invitations. I wasn't sure how many he actually gave out, so I had no idea how many kids would show up. I planned for a lot just in case.

Anthony and James worked on turning the satellite dishes on our roof leftover from the previous owners into beyblade stadiums! The also painted and refinished an old firepit into another stadium. We ended up with over 6 different beyblade stadiums for the party. I put on the invitation for everyone to bring their beyblades and be ready to battle.

The morning of his birthday was very rainy, drizzly and cold (so frustrating!!) so a lot of the decorations I bought wouldn't stay up and we were cold and miserable. I didn't know if anyone would come because of the weather, but the die hard beyblade fans came. They had a blast!

I bought a fun candle that pops open when you light it and turns into a bunch of different candles, spins, and plays happy birthday. It was so cool!! Rett has already requested it for his next birthday.

Present time! He got tons of awesome gifts and a lot of the best gift ever: cash!

Because of the weather we had the entire park to ourselves, so we decided to do the pinata on the swingset. Everyone had quite a few turns to try to bust it open, but eventually I had to rip it apart for everyone.

More bey battles:

Here is James's 9 year old interview. We sure do love this boy!
